About
Vanguard Offshore Wind Farms
Project overview
Vanguard Offshore Winds will be built off the coast of Norfolk in East Anglia, with the nearest turbine located around 50 to 80km from shore.
Vanguard East and West’s 184 turbines will deliver electricity via cables which come ashore at Happisburgh and connect to the National Grid at Necton. Onshore construction of the underground cable route began in 2023 and is well underway. You can find out more about construction activity in the Information Packs located in the Resources section.
Once operational, Vanguard East and West will have a capacity of 2.8GW, providing enough electricity to power over two million homes.
Vanguard East and West
On 11 February 2022, following a period of redetermination, the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy awarded a Development Consent Order (DCO) to Norfolk Vanguard Offshore Wind Farm.
Vanguard West and East Offshore Wind Farms have a capacity of 2.8GW and are owned by RWE.
